Charities 2009
All profits from the 2009 Yorkshire Awards Dinner will be donated to Yorkshire- based charities, each nominated by one of the main sponsors of the dinner.
1st Garforth Scout Group
Established in 1908 the 1st Garforth Scout Group has over 150 members both boys and girls ranging from six to 15.
As well as its regular outdoor activity, the troop do a lot of work in the local community helping the local Lions with their fund raising and assisting local community groups with a variety of tasks.
Due to a nearby housing estate that went into liquidation, funds needed to be diverted to maintain their building, both inside and outside. The scout group has therefore been unable to replace and enhance its activity equipment, and has set a target of £3000 to replace worn out tents and cooking equipment. Monies raised by the Yorkshire Awards dinner will help the troop achieve its goal.
