NETS UK

NETS UK purpose is to provide a Children’s National Aeromedical hospital transport service giving equal access to all. Ensuring very poorly children are transferred via Helicopter or fixed wing aircraft in the fastest and safest way possible to one of only 16 Paediatric Intensive care wards. This service does not exist in the UK at present making us a third world country compared to most of our European neighbours. NETS UK is based on similar service that has been running for over 20 years in NSW Australia. Children have an excellent chance of survival if they are transferred to a HDU or PICU ward. Land based transfers are very dangerous and slow and have many obstacles to overcome and they also take valuable Doctors and Nurses away from very busy Wards. The fact is some children cannot be transferred in time on the current system and their chances of survival are reduced substantially due the lack of experience, equipment and the need for highly trained staff.

Wakefield Cathedral Project 2013

Wakefield is a city being renewed, and at its heart, the Cathedral is also being redeveloped.  This great medieval building is being reshaped internally to provide a safe, flexible and secure space for the Church, the city and the region.  The floor will be levelled, the walls cleaned, and new lighting, heating and sound installed.  Funding has come largely from Heritage Lottery Fund, but with a further £1 million to find, we are immensely grateful for tonight’s support from the Yorkshire Society.
