Dr John Rayner - Yorkshire Unsung Hero 1999

This category honours the County’s unsung heroes who have worked ‘beyond the call’ of duty in their efforts within the community.

Hull University lecturer, John receives his award for his 17 years of unstinting work as a volunteer for The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. An active campaigner for conservation, recycling and environmental lifestyles, his efforts have helped to protect and conserve the beautiful countryside, wildlife and habitats of Yorkshire.
