Prunella Scales - Yorkshire Woman of the Year 1999
Brought
up in Yorkshire as a child, Prunella is most famous for her performances
as razor-tongued Sybil in "Fawlty Towers". Over the years she has
had a very close relationship with the County through the West
Yorkshire Playhouse, appearing in numerous plays and making her directorial
debut with Alan Bennett’s "Getting On".
Prunella also supports the Playhouse’s activities in the community and, together with her husband Timothy West, serve as Honorary Friends of the Playhouse. Prunella has also been awarded an Hon. D. Litt from The University of Bradford for her services to the Arts in the region.
She receives her award for her outstanding contribution to theatre, television, film and the arts.
