Ann Humberston, Blue Bell Wood Hospice - Yorkshire Community Hero 2007

Ann HumberstonAnn has been involved with fundraising for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice for over 6 years now - one of the first ever volunteers to be involved with the charity. In that time she has become the "face" of Bluebell Wood in her home town of Rotherham.

Quite literally, her face is in the paper almost every week, as she collects cheques on behalf of the charity; attends events; holds stalls; gives talks to local groups. She builds personal relationships with everyone she meets, and never misses an opportunity to spread the word about Bluebell Wood to supporters old and new.

She holds & distributes stock of our merchandise, is local treasurer, counts and replaces collecting tins, and always represents us in a positive and friendly manner.

Her enthusiasm and boundless energy is incredible. At almost 70, she represents us day and night, week day and weekend. It's not unusual for her to do a full weeks work - 37 hours - including unsocial hours!
