Sir Bernard Ingham - Lifetime Achievement Award 2011

Sir Bernard Ingham, journalist and broadcaster, is best known as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s Chief Press Secretary throughout her eleven years in No 10. Born the son of cotton weavers in Hebden Bridge, he joined the Hebden Bridge Times over 60 years ago as a reporter, and afterwards worked for the Yorkshire Post, Yorkshire Evening Post and the Guardian. He was knighted in 1990.
